Love (and Raise) Native Bees

  • Phoenix Library 510 West 1st Street Phoenix, OR, 97535 United States (map)

You've probably heard about the plight of honey bees and their essential role in pollination -- but you might not have heard about Oregon's native bees! Join Kristina Lefever and Ruby Reid to learn all about native mason and leafcutter bees: these gentle bees do not sting, they are superior pollinators, and they are easy to raise in your backyard.

We'll teach you how to raise native bees, what to plant in your garden to attract and support native bees, and we'll share some simple ways you can help these crucial pollinators thrive. In this hands-on class, you'll learn how to make a native bee house - and you'll have the option of taking home a leafcutter bee house, complete with the bees courtesy of Crown Bees!
